  • Where are you based?
APDS Training & Behaviour Centre is located at Hope Under Dinmore, near Wynnes, behind Queenswood, in between Hereford and Leominster on the A49.
  • What services do you offer?
We have a variety of services including puppy training, dog training, sports, fun classes, essential life skills, behavioural training & support, agility, hoopers, scent detection, breed specific courses. Check out the menu at the top of the webpage to see our full range of services.
  • What do I need to bring to classes?
Here's everything you need to bring with you to class: Water bowl and water 2 meter normal lead and your dog on a flat collar or a harness (no flexi/slip leads, as these are not suitable to use in training classes) Lots of small, soft, high-value treats like Anco pate or natural Bronco (available at Leominster Pet Centre), diced chicken. Markies, Gravy Bones and similar are not so suitable, as they are too big and cannot be broken into small enough pieces. Avoid brands like Pedigree, Wagg and Bakers if you are buying pre-packed treats. Treat pouch (preferable over Tupperware/plastic bags) A mat for your dogs to lie on (a blanket or a towel work well). Poo bags!
  • Can my child attend classes?
Older children can attend our classes by request in advance of the classes. However, they must be supervised by a responsible adult who must agree to prevent them from disturbing the process of learning during the class.
  • Can I cancel my class/session/consultation?
Full information on our Terms and Conditions can be found here.
  • I want my dog to be socialise with other dogs, what course should I do?
If your dog barks at other dogs, is worried around other dogs or gets overexcited around other dogs, then we suggest you book a Behavioural Consultation, so we can assess your dog and start on a training program.
  • I have a behavioural issue with my dog, how can I book?
You can book a Behavioural Consultation with our Head Behaviourist here.
  • What is the difference between training issues and behavioural issues?
Here are some common examples of Training VS Behavioural Issues. Training issues: Jumping up Recall Pulling on lead (no barking or aggression) Crate training The above can be addressed in Dog Training Classes. Behavioural issues: Barking on lead Reactivity to people Reactivity to dogs Resource guarding Growling over food, toys or people Aggression to humans Aggression to dogs Multi dog household issues Stress when left alone Anxiety issues Trauma The above can be addressed in Behavioural Consultations.
  • How long will it take to solve my dogs problems?
This is very much dog and situation dependent. Each canine family has different issues, with different requirements. And, each dog has different issues and will respond differently to training. Some can pick up things really quickly whereas others are a bit slower on the uptake. It also depends upon your level of commitment and input outside of classes/sessions. APDS cannot give you a quick fix, especially if your dog has been practising a behaviour for a long period of time. What APDS can do is be there to support you and your dog the whole way.
  • My bitch is (or will be) in season during a class - what do I need to do?
If you have a bitch in season (or a bitch likely to come into season) during a course, please get in touch via email at contact@allpositivedogservices.co.uk so we can discuss the options available. It may be possible to continue classes as normal, or we may need to move you onto a different set of course dates.
